SWISSTED vintage posters in Motion Graphics
With this Motion Graphics tribute we celebrated the emblematic Akzidenz-Grotesk typeface and famous music bands of the 70s & 80s! This vintage style video was done with a mix of Swiss design and some smooth animation.
At FEVR studio, we remixed and reimagined all these vintage rock posters in motion graphics. This video stands out for its fusion of Swiss Modernism with the raw energy and rebellious vibe of punk and rock music.
We also wanted to produce a custom-made soundtrack with short clips of all these iconic rock songs. And that’s how this amazing project started!
The visuals were created and illustrated by Mike Joyce, a New-York graphic designer and rock music fan. He’s well-known for his album covers of various artists such as Katy Perry, Iggy Pop and many famous band. He decided to transform the vintage flyers of these punk rock bands of his youth into Swiss design style posters.
Each poster expresses a new aesthetic with strict lines, colorful geometric shapes, overlapping and transparency effects, and text in Bertold Akzidenz Grotesk medium. Some examples of Swissted posters include reinterpretations of iconic punk rock concerts such as The Ramones, Blondie, David Bowie or Nirvana…
These posters feature bold typography, clean lines, and a minimalist layout, all hallmarks of Swiss design principles, with the Helvetica font playing a key role. By applying this aesthetic to classic punk rock imagery, Swissted creates visually stunning pieces that pay homage to both the music and the design movement.
